Two men were killed, while a third allegedly went missing after the SUV they were travelling in plunged into the Fatehwadi Canal in Vasna-Juhapura area of Ahmedabad on Wednesday, said the police. While the bodies of Yaksh Bhankodiya and Yash Solanki were found and retrieved from the canal on Thursday morning, Krish Dave was still missing around 24 hours after the accident, said the police. Police officers said that a search for the missing youth was still underway. Vasna police and Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services from Jamalpur fire station had rushed to the spot and started a rescue operation. As per the fire department, officials searched a 5-km area around the canal, but were yet to find Krish. The incident took place around 4.30 pm on Wednesday when the SUV, taken by the youths on rent of Rs 3,500 for 4 hours, was reported as having crashed into the canal with three occupants. Yaksh was initially driving the vehicle, but handed over the car to Yash later. “The car missed making a proper U-turn near the canal, due to which, it went headlong into the canal,” said PI U B Dhakhada of ‘M’ division traffic police station. A fourth youth, Yashrajsinh Rathod, who is a friend to the victims and was present at the spot, tried to save them, but in vain. He had thrown a rope, which none of his friends could catch and sank along with the car.
