The main trade and industries bodies in the state hailed the state Budget 2011-12,which was presented by Finance Minister Vajubhai Vala. The Federation of Gujarat Industries (FGI) welcomed the Budget saying it has considered the sustained industrial growth apart from funds allocation for over all development of the state. A little bit of disappointment, however,is felt by the industry representatives due to the lack of relief in power tariff and increase in Green Cess among others. FGI president Geeta Goradia said it is important that the government has given a lot of importance to the grassroots development. The government has extended its efforts in the form of Vibrant Taluka Yojana for a uniform overall growth, for which Rs 600 crore have been allocated. The Central Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CGCCI) also hailed the Budget and said it has kept every sector in mind. CGCCI honorary secretary Nilesh Brahmbhatt said the government has tried to satisfy the expectations of the people. Initiatives like Vibrant Taluka, focus on health, education and infrastructure would be a relief to the people. The Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industries (Gujarat chapter) welcomed the increase in VAT on tobacco and related products. However, its president Bhagyesh Soneji said the hike in tax on mobile phones and introduction of Green Cess electrical energy would adversely affect the masses.
