(Representative image)The central government is considering the option of setting up an airport in or around Vadnagar in Mehsana district. A team from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is likely to visit the Vadnagar-Visnagar region of the district to carry out a pre-feasibility study on Wednesday.
A senior government official confirmed the development while stating that the central government team is expected to carry out a pre-feasibility survey in the region. The team will be accompanied by officials of the district collectorate to visit the three villages of Gunja, Vadnagar, and Chandpur.
A government official confirmed that the local officials of the revenue department in Vadnagar and Visnagar have been asked by the district authorities to remain present during the visit of the central team on Wednesday along with the tools for carrying out the survey.

A senior government functionary said, “It is under consideration of the government to develop an airport in Mehsana. Mehsana city has got congested and so various options are being mulled to develop a new airport in Mehsana.”
