Ticket collector booked for ‘pushing’ man to death near Vishwamitri railway station

A day after a 25-year-old man died after falling off a moving train,a ticket collector (TC) was booked for murder on Sunday.

The TC,identified as Bittu Sharma,has been accused of pushing Arvind Ninama off the train for not producing ticket.

The incident had occurred around 4.30 pm between Makarpura and Vishwamitri Railway Station.

While preliminary police investigation suggested that Ninama had jumped off the train when the ticket collector asked for his ticket,deceased’s father,Chagan Ninama in his complaint,alleged that his son was pushed out of the train,said BM Rathwa,Sub-Inspector,Gujarat Railway Police (GRP).

Ninama was a resident of Vachali village in Fatehpura taluka of Dahod.

The Divisional Railway Manager has,meanwhile,formed a one-man fact finding committee to investigate into the matter and submit its report by Monday evening.

Divisional Railway Manager A K Srivastava said: “A senior railway official has been entrusted with the investigation. He has been given 48 hours’ time. All witnesses to the incident will be questioned. Also,we will question the stationmaster,porters,and drivers. We will take stringent action if the ticket collector is found guilty.”

After the youth died,Sharma was beaten up by the passengers.

He is undergoing treatment at the ICU of a local hospital. “We have been told that his condition is out of danger,” said Srivastava.
