Three arrested for attempt to loot ATM

The Kutch police arrested three persons who made an unsuccessful bid to loot an AXIS Bank ATM counter in Gandhidham.

The Kutch police arrested three persons who made an unsuccessful bid to loot an AXIS Bank ATM counter in Gandhidham.

The incident led to an exchange of a couple of rounds between the looters and two security guards. One of the looters was injured in the gunfire,while a guard had a narrow escape.

Police said the incident occurred around 11 am when a bank team arrived in a van along with cash to refill the ATM counter outside the IFFCO premises. The looters,who had already positioned themselves,tried to snatch away the bag.

Jayrajsinh Jadeja,a security guard,who was in the van,then opened fire. The looters also returned the fire. In the ensuing gunfire,one of the looters suffered a bullet injury in his hand. He fell down,while two others escaped from the scene on a motorcycle.

The injured looter was shifted to a hospital while the two others,later identified as Satyamsingh Chaudhary and Sandipsingh Thakur,were arrested by a team led by

DySP A J Gohil from the highway near Samakhiyali after a two-hour long chase.

The police said the two belong to UP. A case of loot and offences under the Arms Act has been registered against the looters and further investigations are on.
