Even as the line of withdrawal of southwest monsoon continues to pass through Deesa and Bhuj and conditions became favourable for further withdrawal of southwest monsoon from more parts of Gujarat during the next 24 hours, several parts of the state received rainfall on Sunday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast of heavy rainfall in southern districts of the state on Monday while other parts are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall.
Gujarat has so far recorded 110.27 per cent average rainfall of the season. Among the regions, Kutch has received the highest of 135.95 per cent followed by North Gujarat 119.27 per cent, South Gujarat 114.77 per cent, East central Gujarat 112.97 per cent and Saurashtra 95.18 per cent.
In the last 24 hours till 5 pm Sunday, 104 talukas of 25 districts – majorly the east central districts – received rainfall with Nandod in Narmada recording 119 mm rainfall, Bodeli in Chhota Udepur 100 mm, Halol in Panchmahal 94 mm, Jetpur Pavi in Chhota Udepur 72 mm and Jambughoda in Panchmahal 68 mm.
On Sunday between 6 am and 6 pm, Hansot in Bharuch received 38 mm rainfall, Navsari 37 mm, Jafrabad in Amreli 28 mm, Chikhli in Navsari 22 mm, Dediapada in Narmada 22 mm, Kheda 17 mm, Petlad in Anand 15 mm and Valid in Tapi 14 mm and Magrol in Surat 13 mm.
“Heavy rains are expected in the districts of Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad and Tapi. Light thunderstorm with lightning and surface wind 30-40 kmph accompanied with light to moderate rain is very likely in the districts of North Gujarat region namely Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod and Mahisagar; in all the districts of South Gujarat region namely Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad and Tapi; in all the districts of Saurashtra such as Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Dwarka, Gir Somnath and Botad,” the IMD said in its forecast issued on Sunday.
As on Sunday, while 15,450 people have been shifted to safer places, 1,351 were rescued from across the state this monsoon season. Also, as on Sunday, 145 dams are on high alert, 16 on alert and 14 on warning.
