Suspended MLAs hold mock Assembly

Congress MLAs on Thursday held a mock assembly outside the state Assembly premises after they were suspended from the House for the day.

Congress MLAs on Thursday held a mock assembly outside the state Assembly premises after they were suspended from the House for the day. This is the third day in a row that the Congress MLAs were suspended for demanding the suspension of two BJP MLAs who were allegedly caught watching porn inside the House on March 20.

As it happened a day earlier,Minister of State for Legislative Affairs Pradeepsinh Jadeja today raised a point of order against Congress members who were shouting slogans against the two BJP MLAs,Shankar Chaudhary and Jetha Bharvad. Jadeja requested the Speaker to suspend all the Congress MLAs from the House for disrupting proceedings. Speaker Ganpat Vasava obliged.

Outside the House,the suspended Congress members conducted a mock assembly wearing masks of Chief Minister Narendra Modi,Speaker Ganpat Vasava and other senior ministers.

Suspended Leader of Opposition (LOP) Shaktisinh Gohil and senior Congress MLAs Arjun Modhwadia and Siddharath Patel played the Opposition.

Taking a swipe at Speaker Ganpat Vasava,Modhwadia said,“Sir (Speaker),you are acting as per new rules,which are not of the Gujarat Assembly but of the CM. For everything,you look up to the CM.”

Later,the mock assembly was dispersed by on Speaker’s orders.
