Suspended IAS officer Pradeep Sharma, arrested in cases of land allotment corruption and financial irregularities, has alleged that Chief Minister Narendra Modi is trying to keep him behind bars since he knows about the CM’s personal life.

Sharma made the allegation in a letter to the Chief Secretary as well as in oral submissions in a local court in Bhuj, where he was produced after his arrest in Delhi on February 15 this year. Sharma also claimed threat to life and sought transfer of investigation in the cases against him to the CBI.

In his letter to Chief Secretary A K Joti on January 19 and later making oral as well as written submissions in the Bhuj court,Sharma alleged the CM would jeopardise the investigation process.

Sharma was arrested first on January 6,2010,when he was the Bhavnagar district collector,in connection with an alleged land allotment scam during his stint as the Kutch district collector. Two more cases of corruption have since been lodged against him.
