Surat textile unit owner murdered

Three robbers entered a bungalow in Piplod, Surat, and killed the houseowner, a textile businessman, after looting jewellery worth Rs 55,000. The police suspect a person known to the deceased to be behind the incident.

Three unknown youths rang the bell at the bungalow in Sarjan society late on Monday night. As soon as Dixit Jariwala (26), opened the door, one of the robbers held a knife to Dixit’s throat, while the other two restrained his hands and took a gold chain and earrings from Dixit’s wife Wilsy. they also took the woman and their one-year-old daughter Sneha to the bedroom, and locked them inside. Dixit tried to escape, but was caught and stabbed to death by the robbers. Wilsy shouted for help from inside the bedroom.

The robbers also took away a gold chain and rings from Dixit’s body and escaped. On hearing Wilsy’s cries for help, her neighbours reached the spot and opened the door and also informed the police about the incident. Umra police officers reached the spot and sent the body to Civil hospital for a postmortem. Wilsy Jariwala lodged a complaint of rape and murder.
