Surat police seek divine blessings to curb crime

At a time when crime is on the rise in the city,the Surat police organised a religious ceremony at the Khatodara police station on Saturday “to seek the blessings of the goddess to help them curb crimes in the area”.

According to sources,an Ambe Mata havan programme was held inside the premises of the police station.

A few tents were set up and five maharaj were called to perform the puja.

The religious ceremony was attended by a large number of senior policemen,including Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) Siddharth Khatri,D R Patel and M K Nayak.

Assistant Commissioners and several police inspectors also attended the puja. Sweets were distributed at the end of the ceremony.

Khatodara police Inspector M R Chawda said: “We organised the havan during Navratri because of our faith on Ambe Mata. The religious ceremony is aimed to bring peace in the area and seek the blessings of the goddess to curb crime.”
