A 25-year-old college student was arrested on Sunday for printing fake notes at his home in Surendranagar by a Special Operations Group, officials said. The accused told the police he drew inspiration from the Shahid Kapoor-starrer OTT series “Farzi”.
As per the FIR filed at the Wadhwan Police Station, inputs were received that fake currency was being printed at a house in the Surendranagar area.
Based on the information, searches were conducted at the home of the accused, identified as Rahul Valodara (Valmiki).
“A laptop, printer, A4-sized sheets, and a laptop bag were found at his house. The laptop was connected to the printer, and in a folder on the laptop, a photo of a fake note was also found. In the laptop bag, cash worth Rs. 4,320 was found,” stated the FIR.
A total of 134 notes in denominations of Rs 100 were also recovered that were found to be fake. Rahul confessed to the police that he printed fake notes, officials said. The cash recovered in the bag was given in lieu of the fake currency, he said.
Later, the SOG was called to seize the evidence, cash, and fake notes.
The accused was booked under the IPC sections 489A (counterfeiting currency-notes or bank-notes), 489C (possession of forged or counterfeit currency-notes or bank-notes), and 489D (making or possessing instruments or materials for forging or counterfeiting currency-notes or bank-notes).
