A PETITIONER in an appeal case before the court of the Additional Principal Judge at the Bhadra court complex in Ahmedabad allegedly hurled a slipper at the judge on Tuesday, after the court upheld a decision of a lower court acquitting four defendants.
According to sources, the police immediately intervened and detained the man. However, Additional Principal Judge M P Purohit declined to seek action against the man and also asked the police to release him.
The incident comes just eight days after an advocate threw a shoe at Chief Justice B R Gavai during proceedings at the Supreme Court in New Delhi.
Asked about Tuesday’s incident, a lawyer said that the man filed a petition in a case registered under IPC section 326, which deals with causing grievous hurt with weapons.
