The district administration has identified certain coastal areas in Kodinar,Talala and Somnath Assembly segments as sensitive and stepped up security there. Kodinar and Talala also happen to be the hometowns of BJP candidate Dinu Solanki and Congress candidate Jashu Barad. Since Friday, two teams have been pressed into service to monitor the activities of Solanki and Barad on a round-the-clock basis. They will also record every movement of the two arch rivals on video. Each team comprises a police constable, two revenue officials and a video cameraman. Aswini Kumar, the district election officer and the district collector, while confirming the move, said: An order has been issued already in this regard. The official teams will trail behind these candidates and video-record their movements until the date of polling. The step was necessary to ensure free and fair elections. He added: We have focussed on the coastal areas particularly those falling under Kodinar,Talala and Sutrapada talukas. Central paramilitary forces will be deployed largely in these areas. Already 118 people have been identified as trouble mongers and action has been initiated against them. According to official figures,of the total 105 hypersensitive booths in the Junagadh Lok Sabha constituency,74 are located in Kodinar,Talala and Somnath areas. Besides,of the total 35 villages identified as vulnerable,28 are located in these three segments.
