Personnel from the Special Reserve Police (SRP) and the Central Reserve Police Force have been deputed at the HC.

Special surveillance cameras have also been put up at all the gates of the HC,especially Court No. 1,which houses the Chief Justice’s court. The Chief Justice’s court was checked with the help of sniffer dogs and visitors’ details were scanned minutely.

“We checked the identity cards, visitors’ information and also verified the identity of the advocates and others in the court. This was just a routine exercise to know how the security guards were doing their job at the HC premises. We will assist the security personnel at the HC as its location on the highway makes it vulnerable,” he said.

Meanwhile, following a circular issued by the Union Home Ministry in connection with the Republic Day,the security at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at Ahmedabad has been strengthened. The entry of visitors into the airport terminal has been suspended till January 31.

Satish Sharma said the police are identifying major spots in the city which require special security arrangement ahead of the Republic Day celebrations. He said,“We are yet to finalise the spots, but a decision will soon be taken and major spots in the city will be put under surveillance”.

Police officers across the state have been put on alert, sources said.
