The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Saturday continued its search to retrieve the body of 7-year-old Aryan Jinjala, who was among the seven persons who had drowned in Narmada river at Poicha on May 14. While the NDRF and Narmada district fire department teams retrieved six bodies till Thursday, Aryan is yet to be traced. Speaking to The Indian Express, Superintendent of Narmada district, Prashant Sumbe, said on Saturday that the search operation will continue till Aryan is found. "The NDRF and the fire teams are looking for the child. We do not have any plans to cease search operations until the body is retrieved.” Officials, however, said that due to river currents, the body could have been swept far away. "We are looking in the swamps along the river course and obstructions in the way to see if the body had got stuck. Since he was only 7 years old, he could have been swept away to a far-off location. We retrieved the last two bodies from an area that was 8 km from the spot where the group had drowned. We feel the child may have gone further.," said an official. Rescue teams do not rule out the possibility of the minor being attacked by crocodiles. "There is a chance that crocodiles could have taken the body. We are continuing the search till all possibilities have been explored.," the official added. Seven persons from Surat, including six minors, were swept away in the river on May 14. Local divers had rescued the eighth member of the group.
