Schools, colleges to facilitate live streaming of today’s moon landing

The Gujarat education department has circulated a letter issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to all colleges and universities to encourage students and faculty to watch the live streaming of the Chandrayaan 3 landing Wednesday. It has also asked municipal schools in Ahmedabad to organise essay writing and project work on India’s third mission to the moon.

Education principal secretary Mukesh Kumar said institutions have been asked to make arrangements on the campus. Technical education commissioner Banchha Nidhi Pani told The Indian Express that all degree and diploma engineering colleges have been asked to make similar arrangements.

“While all colleges have projectors, we are also exploring bigger screens in GTU (Gujarat Technological University) and VGEC (Vishwakarma Government Engineering College Ahmedabad,” said Pani.

Also, all municipal schools in Ahmedabad have announced that schools will also remain open for students to view the live streaming of the landing.

“Each zone has to make arrangements for the maximum number of students to watch live the historic event of Chandrayaan-3 landing on the moon. After this, students will be asked to write a description of the whole event in their own words, ” said AMC school board administrative officer (AO) L D Desai.  Further, schools have been asked to give detailed information about the Chandrayaan mission in every school during prayer Wednesday.  Schools also have to display complete details of Chandrayaan on the school notice boards and conduct an essay writing about Chandrayaan-3 in Gujarati, Hindi and English. The AO added that principals have been asked to collect details about Chandrayaan-3 printed in newspapers from the students and assign a project work for each class.
