The Supreme Court on Tuesday refrained from passing any order on a plea by self-styled godman Asaram, who sought a restraint order against media from prejudicing his sexual assault case and demeaning his ashrams.
The matter was mentioned before a Bench headed by Chief Justice of India P Sathasivam which asked Asaram to file a proper petition and posted it for hearing on October 21.
Asarams counsel had urged the court to restrain media from carrying speculative reports about Asaram, his family and ashrams in the wake of rape allegations against him.
He objected to Asarams ashrams allegedly being portrayed by media as some kind of brothels.
