It was Sardar Vallabhbhai Patels statue who emerged as the clear winner at the auction of Chief Minister Narendra Modis memorabilia in Vadodara. According to the results collated by the office of the district collector,a silver statue of Sardar Patel,that went under the hammer at the auction held here between July 25 and August 3,fetched a whopping Rs 7 lakh as against its bidding price of Rs 1.30 lakh. Apart from the statue,the auction has seen a complete sell out,according to the authorities,with all 1,073 items fetching a total of Rs 2,02,49,934. The district collectorate of Vadodara is in the process of preparing its final list of winners from the auction of Chief Minister Narendra Modis memorabilia. While all items have been sold,the most revenue-fetching were the silverware,turbans and swords that were presented to the Chief Minister. D R Patel,District Supply Officer,said,The items have been a complete sell-out. We are now making a list of all the winners and collecting their cheques that will be deposited to the Kanya Kelavani Nidhi fund. On realisation of the cheques,the winning items will be transferred to their possession. The entire process could take about 10 days. The district collectorate of Vadodara initiated the annual exercise of auctioning the items that are received each year as gifts by Modi. The items like turbans,swords,shawls etc are then deposited at the kosh khana (government treasury) and is auctioned every year,where a number of enthusiastic Modi-supporters bid for it. The auction had seen a massive support in Vadodara,as many bidders saw it as their last chance to get hold of Modis memorabilia,lest he should be elevated to a position in New Delhi by the party.
