An expert in remote-sensing, Tapan Misra, the director of Space Applications Centre (SAC), an arm of ISRO in Ahmedabad, will be attending a high profile Asia-Pacific Remote Sensing summit scheduled to be held in Delhi from April 4-7.
The conference is expected to deal largely with the use of remote sensing in weather and climate predictions. Apart from scientists from ISRO, many from NASA, China National Space Administration, China National Remote Sensing Centre, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, EUMETSAT, CNES-France and other experts will be attending the tenth edition of the summit. Before the summit, EUMETSAT head Alain Ratier held a meeting with Misra Saturday.
“We share a lot of data. While EUMETSAT uses data from Oceansat and other remote sensing satellites, we use their mathematical models and forecast predictions that come to us on a real-time basis,” Misra said.
