City-based corporate houses are now coming forward to promote the concept of mobile bhajiya van service of the Sabarmati Central Jail.

City-based corporate houses are now coming forward to promote the concept of mobile bhajiya van service of the Sabarmati Central Jail. Taking an initiative, noted travel agents Cox & Kings invited over 150 people for savouring the jail bhajiya at the company’s premises on Wednesday.

The vice-president of Cox & Kings,Sanjiv Chajar, said,“We had called people from various national and international airlines and other corporate houses in the city to savour the jail bhajiya. The idea was to support and promote the unique concept of the Sabarmati jail authorities.”

The prison authorities had earlier this month launched the mobile bhajiya service where trained cooks (jail inmates) prepare the stuff on the spot at various places in the city.

The service was inaugurated at the Gandhinagar Sachivalaya on July 1. The cooks are convicts who have been handpicked for their good conduct and for their efficiency in getting the bhajiya taste right.
