Rs 208-cr plan for schools in Surat

With new provisions to compete with private schools and give better education to poor students,the Surat Municipal School Board has come up with a new budget of Rs 207.98 crore for the 2010-11.

With new provisions to compete with private schools and give better education to poor students,the Surat Municipal School Board has come up with a new budget of Rs 207.98 crore for the 2010-11. The draft budget will be placed at the general meeting of the board for its nod. There are over 281 schools under the Surat Municipal School Board imparting education in Gujarati,Hindi,English,Urdu,Marathi,Telugu and Oriya mediums to 1.33 lakh students.

Chairman of the board Rupin Patchigar said,“We want all our schools modernised. Our draft plan envisages each school having around 15 computers with Internet facility so that poor students could also learn computer skills.”
