Moving ahead with its plan to resume boating facility in the Sursagar lake, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) contemplates to install a rotating fountain to improve the oxygen level in water.
A formal proposal has already been moved in the standing committee, which is expected to be approved it in the next few days. The VMC plans to start the boating facility before the end of this month.
There will be several other aspects which will be covered before the boating facilities start by this month-end, said Deputy Municipal Commissioner A O Sharma.
He said the rotating fountains will be specifically installed keeping fish and turtles in mind.
The fountain will keep moving around the lake and it will simultaneously fetch water from the lake and sprinkle in the other part, this will increase the oxygen level, he added.
Also, the civic body plans to install flood and focus lights around the lake. Once the lighting will be done,it would become a popular hangout for the citizens and tourists. Some other minor works will also be carried out before we start the facilities, Sharma said.
The civic body is set to introduce five two-seater boats and 10 four-seater pedal boats. It will charge Rs 25 and Rs 40 for half-an-hour ride respectively.
