'Manmel' (compatibility) is essential among party workers - this was Gujarat BJP president C R Paatil's message on Sunday during an event to celebrate the birthday of Rivaba Jadeja, BJP MLA from Jamnagar North constituency. Among those present on the dais on the occasion were Jamnagar Mayor Bina Kothari and Jamnagar MP Poonam Maadam. Paatil’s remark comes days after Jadeja’s spat with Kothari and Maadam became a public spectacle, following a public event, over a difference of opinion about the manner in which tribute was to be paid to martyrs. The event was organised by the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation under the ‘Mera Desh, Meri Mitti’ initiative. Addressing the event, Paatil said, “Rivaba had called me to say that she wanted to celebrate the birthday. And then Poonamben insisted that I should come for the celebrations.Poonamben was in Delhi for a programme yesterday. In the night, she (Maadam) called me to say that she might not be able to reach (for the Jadeja birthday event), but 'you please convey best wishes on my behalf'.But then within an hour, I again got a call (from Maadam) saying that she was coming. Especially for this programme, she came by a special chartered flight to wish Rivaba.” “This manmel (compatibility with each other among party workers) is essential,” Paatil added as Maadam and others looked on with smiles on their faces. As part of the birthday celebration, Jadeja organised a camp for around 1,250 beneficiaries of Jamnagar for various government schemes like an amendment to the Aadhaar card, and getting Ayushman Card to open Jan Dhan bank accounts. The camp was inaugurated by Paatil. On the occasion, Kothari and Maadam also extended their wishes to Jadeja. In his speech, Paatil also lambasted the bloc of opposition parties – Indian National Democratic Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) – and said that they might have come together with the hope that it would help them collect funds in the name of election. Paatil also said that "after looking at the governance by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, people have started believing that it is possible to provide a corruption-free government". Rivaba will celebrate her birthday on September 5. However, the event was organised two days in advance on Sunday in view of the convenience of others. Senior party leaders like state minister Mulubhai Bera, and former minister Hakubha Jadeja were also present on the occasion among others.
