Research scholars from the science stream have received the maximum number of fellowships offered by the state education department under SHODH (Scheme of Developing High Quality Research) for 2022-23 academic session. This was followed by 229 research scholars from the arts stream, belonging to public and private universities. Under the scheme, a student doing research in a recognised university of the state will be given a stipend of Rs 15,000 per month for two years and an annual contingency grant of Rs 20,000 for the same period. In all, Rs 4 lakh will be given to the scholars in two years. According to department records, 1,253 online applications were received for the fellowship. Eventually, 870 applications were approved.
