Rajkot woman supplied drugs to Junagadh couple: cops

The accused identified as Ali Mohamed Makarani (57) and his wife Jaya alias Sayara (40) was arrested by Junagadh police on Wednesday night. Police have recovered heroin weighing 7.150 gram worth Rs 71,000. In the evening,the couple was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class court and remanded to police custody for four days.

Investigation officer U K Makawana said: “During the interrogation,prime accused Makarani revealed that he was getting stock of heroin from a woman based in Rajkot. However,he didn’t know the name and address of the woman.”

He said: “Makarani himself is a chronic drug addict and collapsed during the interrogation. He was then hospitalised in Junagadh civil hospital and kept under medical observation.”
