From Saurashtra-Kutch,eight students in the general stream and six students in the science stream feature in the top-ten list in the HSC results declared by Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board on Thursday.
Rajkot has outperformed other centres in the Saurashtra-Kutch region in the general stream seven of the eight toppers are from Rajkot. But in the science stream,students from the smaller centres like Junagadh and Bhavnagar have called the shots. Only one among the six is from Rajkot. Amreli district has secured the top slot in the general as well as the science stream with a pass percentage of over 90.
The private school students have outnumbered the grant-in aided or government school students in the merit list for both streams. All the students who made it to state merit list are from the self-financed schools.
Ankita Dhakecha,a student of SGK Dholakiya Higher Secondary School,stood second in the state in the general stream with 93.57 per cent marks. Aakash Fuletra,a student of S G Dholakiya Memo High School,secured the third rank in the state list. Others from Rajkot city who made it to the list are Shreya Shingala (6th),Kasturi Dhandha (7th),Dhvani Mankad (7th),Durgesh Bhambhani (9th),Chandni Lakani (9th) and Dhatri Patadia (10th) positions. All the students are from Rajkot except Chandni,who is from Junagadh.
In the science stream,Palak Nandolia,a student of Swaminarayan High School in Bhavnagar,secured the second position in the state with 95.6 per cent marks. Nisarg Ramanuj,also from Bhavnagar,stood seventh. Viddhi Kanteshriya (7th),Harshkumar Chapadia (10th) and Viklan Ladani (10th),all students of Alpha High School,Junagadh,made it to the state merit list. Bhautik Makadia (7th),a student of Krishna Higher Secondary School,was the only student from Rajkot to make it to the top-ten list. Amreli district led the chart in the general stream with a 93.29 pass percentage,followed by Bhavangar (87.87),Kutch (87.03),Surendranagar (86.44),Junagadh (83.14),Rajkot (79.92),Jamnagar (78.87) and Porbandar (71.94).
For the science stream,Amreli district topped the chart with a pass percentage of 90.62 followed by Surendranagar (84.33),Kutch (73.27),Rajkot (72.28),Porbandar (69.52),Bhavnagar (67.1),Junagadh (60.28) and Jamnagar (56.37).
