The Rajkot police on Tuesday cracked the case of abduction of a 19-year-old college girl only to discover that the abduction was staged by the victim herself.
The police arrested the girl,Rekha Limbasiya, and two men Chandhu Mistry and Jitu Prajapati from Pavagadh, and later brought them to Rajkot. Preliminary police investigation revealed that Rekha had planned her fake abduction so that she could marry Mistry,a resident of Surat, without facing any objection,as the man was already married and father of two.
Rekha,a student of Kundalia College, told the police that after eloping with Mistry, she asked him to demand a ransom of Rs 2 lakh from her father an amount she knew her father could never be able to pay. They had further planned to leave some blood-stained clothes at Chotila so that her family and others would believe she was dead.
After leaving home on August 22 on the pretext of a college picnic,Rekha,a resident of New Sakti Colony near Rajkot Marketing Yard, met Mistry. They first went to Surat, and from there, the duo along with Prajapati visited various places, including Shirdi,Nasik and Vadodara before coming to Pavagadh. She told the police that she and Mistry have married in a temple at Shirdi.
According to the police, the two came in contact when Mistry had wrongly dialed her number two years ago. They continued to talk over the phone for some time, and later,Mistry,an auto-rickshaw driver, started visiting Rajkot to meet her. Further investigations are on.
