Light-to-moderate rainfall is expected around Diwali and the Gujarati New Year in certain parts of Gujarat, according to the India Meteorological Department .
October 20, 21 and 22 will likely see light-to-moderate rain with thundershowers in districts of South Gujarat including Dang, Navsari, Valsad and the weather is very likely to remain dry in the remaining districts of the state, the IMD said. After a brief dry spell, talukas of Dang, Navsari and Valsad received light rainfall on Thursday. Maximum temperatures rose to 36.8 degrees Celsius – the highest in the state – in Surendranagar on Thursday,
followed by 36.5 degrees Celsius in Deesa, 36.2 degrees Celsius in Ahmedabad, Surat and Veraval. Kandla Port recorded 36.3 degrees Celsius, Gandhinagar and Naliya 35.5, Porbandar and Keshod 35.4, Bhuj 35.2 and Vadodara 35 degrees Celsius. The lowest minimum temperature of 17.3 degrees Celsius was recorded in Kutch district’s Naliya. While there will be no major shift in the maximum temperature for the coming seven days, a gradual rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius is expected. Vaghai in Dang received 24 mm rainfall till 6pm Thursday, followed by Vansada in Navsari (21 mm) with Dharampur, Valsad and Pardi district
staying below the 10 mm mark.
