Among the four, one is a 22-year-old youth from Valsad, who is pursuing higher study in a Pune-based college. The other three include a 22-year-old woman,a 27-year-old man (both from Adajan in Rander) and a 37-year-old man from the Pandesara area.

Admitting that there was a delay in getting the reports from Ahmedabad due to “heavy workload” on doctors there,NCH superintendent Dr M K Wadhel said,“We are taking extra care for the patients tested positive. They are being treated at their respective residences. We have given medicines even to their family members as a precautionary measure.”

District health officer Dr V R Gupta, meanwhile, claimed that they are well prepared to deal with the situation, and for that, the Surat Municipal Corporation-run SMIMER Hospital has been kept on standby. “Also,we have signed an MoU with the Mahavir Hospital authorities for the treatment of those patients who don’t wish to undergo treatment at the NCH. We will supply medicines and drugs to the hospital,” Gupta added.

Even as test reports of over 80 patients are awaited, two more suspected swine flu patients arrived at the NCH on Thursday.

After screening them, the hospital authorities sent their samples to Ahmedabad for lab analysis. On the other hand, the test reports of Jayshanker Mishra, who died on Wednesday morning at NCH,confirmed it as an H1N1 negative case.
