PARIMAL DABHI A month after the Gujarat Government appointed a two-member judicial inquiry commission led by former High Court Judge,Sugnya Bhatt,to probe into the alleged snooping on a woman architect by Gujarat Police allegedly under the instructions of former Minister of State for Home Amit Shah and one saheb, the Commission wrote to gulail.com one of the two investigative portals that made the alleged snooping tapes public asking it to file an affidavit by January 15. The portal, however, has questioned the intentions of the commission and added that they would decide on the further course of action in a few days. Talking to The Indian Express, founder of gulail.com Ashish Khaitan said that they received a communication from the Commission on Thursday asking them to file an affidavit before the Commission with reference to its inquiry by January 15. They have sent us the communication. We will decide our further course of action (whether to file the affidavit or not) in a few days, said Khaitan. He said that the terms of reference did not mandate the Commission to probe the roles of the Chief Minister or Amit Shah in the episode. The Commission seems to have been appointed with mala fide intention (of targeting us). We will take our decision in a few days, said Khaitan. Two investigative portals gulail.com and cobrapost.com revealed that the tapes related to the alleged snooping of a woman by Gujarat police at the behest of Amit Shah. In the audio tapes,Amit Shah is being heard instructing IPS officer,G L Singhal,to stalk and tape phones of an architect woman,at the behest of his saheb. Founder of cobrapost.com,Aniruddha Bahal, said they have not received any communication from the Sugnya Bhatt Commission so far. The Gujarat Government has appointed a two-member commission consisting of Sugnya Bhatt and former Gujarat Additional Chief Secretary (Home),K C Kapoor on November 26 to probe the controversy. While the Commission officers have remained tight-lipped over the status of the inquiry,K C Kapoor, told The Indian Express on Thursday,I have just landed today and likely to join the Commission in a day or two. A month ago when informed about his appointment to the Commission,Kapoor had told this newspaper that he was attending a family wedding and would return (to Gujarat) in mid-December. The chairperson of the Commission,Sugnya Bhatt was not available for comments. On Thursday, when The Indian Express visited her office in Sector 19,Gandhinagar,where she also heads Other Backward Class Commission (OBC Commission) of the Gujarat Government, the officials present refused to talk on any issue. When asked to meet Bhatt, the Commission Secretary M V Chavda said,She cannot meet. She is busy.
