Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, who was speaking during the REINVEST 2024 event in Gandhinagar, invoked ancient texts of Rigveda and Chanakya’s Arthashastra to emphasise India’s global leadership in the renewable energy sector on Monday.
Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expanded his mission for renewable energy for the globe as part of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” principle, Joshi said that India’s ancient texts have always given importance to the natural elements of energy. Joshi said, “(Lord) Krishna taught us about conservation through Gowardhan puja and Chanakya Arthashastra advocates penalising those who harm nature. Life is rooted in panchabhuta — the five elements of nature — says Rigveda and it is our duty to conserve them.”
He said: “Crores of Indians perform the Surya namaskar and recite the Gayatri mantra every morning, which is dedicated to Savitri, a solar god…Similarly, Rishi Agastya wrote about the method of producing hydrogen in his book Agastya Samhita, written thousands of years ago, it explains how to construct an electric battery to split water into hydrogen and oxygen.”
