Police inspector booked for ‘molesting’ woman in elevator

A POLICE inspector was booked for allegedly molesting a 19-year-old woman in an elevator, the Ahmedabad police said on Saturday.
The alleged incident took place on Thursday when the two of them were in the lift, police said.

When the elevator began moving, the inspector allegedly touched the woman inappropriately. He soon stepped out of the elevator when someone else entered it on one of the floors of the apartment building, police said citing the complaint.

The woman later called the 181 Abhayam helpline and spoke to a counsellor. Subsequently, she filed a police complaint.

A senior police officer said, “An investigation is underway. We will soon summon the inspector to question him.”
