Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be virtually addressing the fourth G20 Health Working Group and Health Working Group Ministers meeting at Gandhinagar from August 17-19.
The Prime Minister will be addressing the inaugural session of the meeting on August 18. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and other officials from the health department will also address this session. Health Ministers of Indonesia and Brazil are also expected to address the gathering. During the day, a session on “Health Emergencies Prevention, Preparedness and Response (with a focus on One Health and AMR) will be held.
A Joint Health-Finance Ministers Meeting will also be held at Gandhinagar on August 19, officials said. During this meeting, the Health Ministers will join in person, while finance ministers will join virtually. Dignitaries from across the world including ministers from Argentina, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal among others are expected to attend.
On August 17, the fourth Health Working Group Deputies meeting will commence in presence of Union Health minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Sudhansh Pant, Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. There will also be an overview of the Outcome Document by G20 India Health Track Focal Point, Government of India. The day-long event will focus on the finalization of the outcome document through ‘Live Negotiations on the Draft Declaration led by India’s G20 Presidency Health Track Focal Point’ split into two sessions. After the closing session, there is an exhibition tour on different themes such as WHO Traditional Medicine Global Summit, One Earth One Health Advantage Healthcare India 2023, and India MedTech Expo 2023. A working dinner, ‘Ratri Bhoj’ will be arranged for the Deputies and other delegates. Along with this, Ministerial delegates will also be welcomed in the Ratri Bhoj with ‘Sanskritik Sandhya’ a musical journey.
On August 19, meditation and yoga sessions will be held in the morning. There after discussions on Strengthening Cooperation in Pharmaceutical Sector with a focus on Availability & Access to Safe, Effective, Quality, and Affordable Medical Countermeasures — VTDs (Vaccine, Therapeutics & Diagnostics) and Digital Health Innovation & Solutions to aid Universal Health Coverage & Improve Healthcare Service Delivery will be held. The closing session will have concluding remarks by Mansukh Mandaviya. After this, the delegates will visit ‘Dandi Kutir’ followed by a cultural evening and a gala dinner.
