Plea on cancellation of cop’s bail rejected

The Gujarat HC on Tuesday rejected a petition demanding cancellation of bail granted to suspended Inspector K G Erda,in connection with the 2002 Gulberg Society massacre case.

The Gujarat HC on Tuesday rejected a petition demanding cancellation of bail granted to suspended Inspector K G Erda,in connection with the 2002 Gulberg Society massacre case. Erda was the then inspector at Meghaninagar police station and Gulberg Society fell under his jurisdiction. He is facing charges of destruction of evidence and criminal conspiracy. An eyewitness had filed the petition demanding cancellation of his bail.

Gulberg trial: HC turns down victim’s plea
The Gujarat HC has turned down a petition demanding direction to the special trial court for the Gulberg case to arraign three persons as accused. An eyewitness and victim had demanded to arraign seven persons as accused in the case. Of these,two were arraigned as accused. The victim challenged the order in the HC with a prayer to arraign the remaining five as accused too. In its earlier order,the HC refused to interfere with the trial court’s order to arraign two others — M K Tandon and N D Parmar as accused too. On Tuesday,the HC refused to interfere with the trial court’s order in the case of the remaining three persons.
