The Fee Regulatory Committee (Technical) Wednesday announced the maximum fees at 17 new technical institutes for the academic session 2023-24. It also announced the provisional fee for the institutes that have proposed an increase of more than 5 per cent of the existing fee structure.

The maximum fee for degree engineering programmes has been fixed at Rs 67,000, MPharm Rs 1,25,000, MBA Rs 82,000, MTech Rs 96,000, BPharm Rs 69,000, MCA Rs 66,000, Master of Planning Rs 54,000, diploma architecture Rs 40,000 and diploma engineering Rs 30,000.

The self-financed technical colleges or institutions that applied for a hike of more than five per cent of the existing fee for the next block period of three years — from 2023-24 to 2025-26 — have been permitted to charge as provisional fee decided by the FRC technical.

“The fee is purely provisional and on the basis of it, the colleges or institutions will charge a provisional fee from the students admitted in 2023-24 for the first semester. It will be subject to the final determination of the fee structures of such colleges or institutions,” the committee stated Wednesday.

Meanwhile, to facilitate the process of admission of students in colleges or institutions, FRC (Technical), in a temporary measure, announced the provisional fees of such institutions Wednesday.

However, upon completion of the fee determination process, the final fee structures of the colleges will be declared and that will be the final fees chargeable by these institutions.

“It is to be made clear that if the provisional fees is lower than the final fee, the student will pay the fee difference to the colleges or institutions and if the final fee is lower than the provisional fee then the colleges will refund the excess amount paid by the students. This will be done in accordance with the directions that may be prescribed by the committee in the final fee order,” it stated.

“…the financial data for the immediate preceding years is not available for” for the programmes that are either newly started from 2023-24 or reinstated in 2023-24, the FRC stated. “Hence, the fee structure for these programmes is determined based on the standard operating procedure of the committee as well as the fees charged by either the other institutions under same trust offering similar programmes or the institutions in the nearby areas which are offering similar programmes,” the FRC (Technical) announced in a statement.

However, the fees structure is subject to any direction circular order or notification that may be issued by the government of Gujarat government or regulatory body or any court of law with regard to a fees recharge by such institution for the year 2023-24 or any other period that may be directed by it.
