Panchmahals dairy chief moves HC to prevent appointment of administrator

Panchamals dairy chairman Bhupendrasinh Solanki has filed a petition in the Gujarat High Court in a bid to prevent the state government from appointing an administrator or a custodian following the expiry of the incumbent board’s term.

Panchamals dairy chairman Bhupendrasinh Solanki has filed a petition in the Gujarat High Court in a bid to prevent the state government from appointing an administrator or a custodian following the expiry of the incumbent board’s term. The board’s term had ended about three months ago.

The court has now served notices to the Government of Gujarat, the district collector, deputy collector and the registrar of the cooperative after the petition was filed last week.

The petition will be heard on September 17.

Earlier in June,Solanki had filed a petition challenging the appointment of three government officers to the board as directors. The three state government nominees were Shahera BJP legislator and Aniyad milk cooperative chairman Jetha Bharwad,Dinesh Patel and Karansinh Chauhan, chairmen of two other milk cooperatives in Panchmahals district.

The court had already passed an order staying the nomination of three members to the board.

Incidentally,Solkani once held three important posts as the state BJP vice-president,Member of Parliament, and the dairy chairman.

Members of the dairy close to Solanki said there has been an effort to tarnish his image.

Assistant cooperative officer (Audit) K V Katara had filed a complaint of embezzlement against Solanki and Managing Director R S Patel on the basis of allegations levelled by three farmers from Shehra taluka. Solanki has, however, termed the allegations as baseless.

Earlier, there was also an attempt by some members like Jetha Bharwad to oust Solanki by bringing a no-confidence motion against him. The matter was, however, resolved as both parties had reached on a compromise.

On his part,Solanki said: “It is the officers in the government who are doing this. I don’t know, but they must know on whose orders they are doing this.”
