Owing to heatwave, traffic signals in Surat to remain closed during afternoon

Due to the ongoing heatwave across the state, the Surat Traffic Department has announced that the traffic signals at the junctions will remain closed from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm daily for one week, starting Sunday.
Surat Traffic Department Deputy Commissioner of Police Anita Vanani said, “A heat wave is going on and commuters have to wait at junctions for traffic signals. For the benefit of citizens, we decided to stop (put off) the timer traffic signals from 1.00 pm to 3.30 pm for one week. If the heat wave continues we will extend it for another week. There are 213 traffic junctions in Surat city. Our police personnel will be present at the traffic points. ”
