The ruling party just finished its week-long exercise of interviewing ticket aspirants. The ruling BJP has completed its week-long process of interviewing its prospective candidates for all the 182 Assembly seats,with over 3,600 seeking a party ticket to contest the polls due in December. During the exercise,teams of three members each travelled to every district and municipal corporations between October 18 and 23 and met prospective candidates. Each team had a woman member. The party will now send observers to each district to select candidates. These observers will submit their reports to the state BJPs parliamentary board,which will discuss it in its meeting starting October 29 in Gandhinagar. State BJP chief R C Faldu and Chief Minister Narendra Modi will also be part of the process. State BJP vice-president I K Jadeja,who is himself expecting a ticket from Surendranagar district,said,The process of taking a sense of prospective candidates for all the 182 seats is now over. In the next two-three days,all observers will submit their reports to the party. According to Jadeja,once the state BJP parliamentary board finalises its list a few days before Diwali,it will be sent to BJPs national parliamentary board in Delhi. The final list of candidates will be declared on November 15 or 16, he added. 400 seek BJP tickets in Surat alone SURAT: Around 400 people,including sitting MLAs,municipal councillors and businessmen,have sought BJP tickets to contest polls for the 12 Assembly constituencies in the city. A team of BJP observers comprising minister Nitin Patel,senior leaders Bhupendrasinh Chudasma and Jyoti Pandya had recently held long sessions with the ticket aspirants at Saroli. The 12 constituencies in Surat city are: Limbayat,Udhna,Choryasi,Majura,Olpad,Kamrej,Katargam,Varachha,Karanj,Surat North,Surat West and Surat East. Surat BJP president Purnesh Modi said they were happy at the response.
