More than 100 people from all over the district thronged the district collectors office in Ahmedabad on Wednesday with the hope of getting their problems solved at the Lok Darbar. State Revenue Minister Anandiben Patel, the in-charge minister of Ahmedabad district, stayed till the end. It was the first Lok Darbar at district level after the new government came to power in 2007. The minister remained present throughout the day-long proceedings. Additional Resident Deputy Collector A D Katara said the proceedings went off smoothly as the event was planned a month ago. He said complaints from all the departments were heard and were disposed of if possible,he said. The minister has given one months time to the officials concerned to resolve the complaints and submit an action taken report by that time. Some complaints might be solved even before that. Some complaints were resolved on the spot as was done in the case of Zahoor Lalmohammad Shaikh,a resident of Astodia Darwaja, who has been fighting for 40 years for removal of an encroachment on a common plot blocking his house. The minister has also ordered the Collectorate office to provide police protection during mapping of the encroached area, Shaikh said. A member of Kanbha village panchayat,Dipakbhai Manibhai Patel, approached the Darbar with a complaint about hurdles created by rival members in the development works for his village. I am told the matter will be solved in a month, Patel said.
