The opposition leader at the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has said that most of the members attending the general board meeting are not comfortable with English,so the important documents discussed at the meeting should be made available in Gujarati.

Zaveri has demanded that the copy of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) and the VMC should be given in Gujarati language. He said most members who will attend the extraordinary general board meeting will not be able to understand English.

In a statement,Zaveri said they have been given the copy of the MoU along with the circular for the extraordinary general board meeting. There will be several issues like the formation of a new corporate body,appointment of steering committee members and also the powers given to the municipal commissioner to make changes in the MoU discussed in the meeting. But it has been realised that most of the members attending the meeting have not been able to study the copy of the MoU due to language barrier, he said.

He added,We demand that a copy of the same should be given to all the members before the board meeting starts so that they can study in detail and give their views accordingly.

Zaveri has further demanded that in future also,whenever,important works are discussed a copy of the same should be made available in Gujarati.
