Nathuram Godse banner at Ram Navami rally in Vapi sparks controversy
Banner was taken down; Congress has condemned incident, demanded strict action.

A banner of Nathuram Godse, reading “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram, Desh Bacha Gaye Nathuram”, put up during the Ram Navami festival sparked a controversy in Vapi. Congress leaders have condemned the act and sought police action in the matter.
On Sunday evening, the eve of Ram Navami, several organisations had organised rallies in Vapi.
Shree Ram Shobha Yatra Samithi had organised one such rally on Kupalli Road. Several banners were hanged on electric poles and road dividers, opposite to Ashadham school on Vapi main road. One of the banners caught the attention of passersby, who took photos and videos of the same and made it viral on social media platforms. The banner also had a photo of Nathuram Godse.
Vapi police, after learning about the incident, reached the spot and removed the said banner. Other banners, which were not “objectionable”, remained.
Vapi Congress leader Bipin Patel, condemning the incident, demanded strict police action. Talking to The Indian Express, Patel said, “We will make representation in this connection with Valsad Superintendent of Police, Dr Karanraj Vaghela, and seek strict action against accused persons.”
