The Designated Fast-Track Court on Friday cancelled the bail of two accused in the Naroda Patiya riot case and sent them to jail. The duo Naresh Chhara and Vijay Chakubhai was earlier pulled up for not remaining present during the court proceedings. They came to the court today after designated judge Jyotsna Yagnik issued a non-bailable warrant against them.
In what the HC had termed as the carnage almost unparalleled in the modern history,98 people were killed in February 2002.
Cricket betting racket busted in Naranpura
The city police busted a cricket betting racket being run from a pan parlour in the Naranpura area and arrested three persons in this connection on Thursday night.
Based on a tip-off,the three,including a woman,were caught while they were allegedly accepting bets on the one-day international between Australia and India,which was being played in Hyderabad.
The police seized a television set,eight mobile phones and Rs 7,500 in cash from the spot.
