Music systems worth Rs 43,000 from as many as nine cars were stolen from the parking lot of Neelharsh Apartments near Anjali Crossroads in the Vejalpur area in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.

The Vejalpur police said that a gang of thieves might have targeted the parking lot in the early hours of the day. The gang was probably aware of the fact that there was no security at the premises, claimed the police.

Inspector G R Gadhvi said,“The building has well-to-do families,and expensive cars,including a Mercedez Benz,were damaged.”

He said the thieves stole the music systems by breaking the wind-panes of those cars that had a modern lock system that rings an alarm when the car lock is opened. In the old cars, they removed the rear wind-pane and opened the locks.

He added,“The apartment residents had some disagreements with each other,so no security personnel was employed.”

The police have registered a case of theft against unidentified thieves and further investigations are on.
