MS University files complaint against NSUI members over ‘trespassing into head office’
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, as per the varsity, when members of the NSUI -- the student wing of the Congress -- reached the head office of the varsity to submit a memorandum.

The management of the Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) in Vadodara on Thursday filed a complaint at Sayajigunj police station against three members of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), a day after alleged trespassing at the head office.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, as per the varsity, when members of the NSUI — the student wing of the Congress — reached the head office of the varsity to submit a memorandum. The NSUI members — by submitting the memorandum — intended to protest the decision to cut quota for local students in wake of the implementation of the Gujarat Common Admission Services (GCAS) platform in the state.
Professor Hitesh Raviya, Officer on Special Duty and PRO of MSU, said that the vigilance officer of the university had filed the complaint against three NSUI members who allegedly jumped over the wall and climbed on to the second floor of the head office to enter the record room, despite warning from security officers to not create a ruckus at the head office.
“At around 12 pm (on Wednesday), a group of about 50 NSUI students arrived to submit a memorandum and created a ruckus outside the head office. The security officer of MSU also requested them to follow discipline while handing over the memorandum. But instead of heeding to the request, three of the students had jumped over the wall and climbed over another structure to reach the second floor and jumped into the record store room…” Ravaiya said.
Raviya said that the NSUI members also threatened to vandalise the head office. The varsity has submitted videos of the students jumping into the second floor of the head office. “They (NSUI) also threatened to break the doors from inside. This attempt to break into the university head office is strongly condemned. This is trespassing and so we have filed a complaint at Sayajigunj police station. We have also submitted the photographs and CCTV footage of the students as evidence to the police,” Raviya said.
The NSUI, on the other hand, alleged that the Vigilance Officer Sudarshan Vala misbehaved with students who had arrived to submit the memorandum.
Amar Vaghela, NSUI President, said, “We had gone to submit the memorandum peacefully against the decline in the quota for local students as part of the implementation of GCAS. They, however, shut the doors and did not allow us to enter to meet any official. It is impossible to meet the Vice Chancellor but the PRO and the Registrar of the University also did not come out to meet us. We waited for two hours before some of our members decided to enter the building to open the doors that were closed,.. We are also going to file a police complaint against Sudarshan Vala for threatening NSUI members with dire consequences… Just three days ago, the ABVP arrived to submit a memorandum and even had a physical brawl with the staff but no action was initiated against the ABVP.”
Sayajigunj Police Inspector ZN Dhasura told The Indian Express, “We have just received the application of MSU on Thursday evening. We will probe into the case and then file an FIR.”
