In the past two days as part of a major drive, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch has hauled in more than 150 vehicles, mostly two-wheelers, that have been lying unclaimed across the city. The drive is part of the security risk mitigation aspect of the crime branch’s duties, said DCP Ajit Rajian. Apart from the security risk, where they may be used for “anti-social activities”, these vehicles could also be used to hide or transport contraband, like liquor and drugs, he said. Notably, the Crime Branch has also appealed to the people of Ahmedabad to actively engage with the police on this endeavour to mitigate security risk before Navratri on the WhatsApp number 6359625365. Officials said that the names of those giving information to the crime branch will be kept confidential.
