A day after a farmer committed suicide in Morbi town,the police on Tuesday registered a case of rape and abetment of suicide against a moneylender and his son. Factory owner Prabhu Hadwadia and his son Ravi have been accused of repeatedly raping the daughter of deceased Jenti Dhanja (50) in the past 24 months after the deceased failed to return a sum of Rs. 2 lakh that he had loaned from Hadwadia,two years ago. Based on a complaint by Geeta,Dhanjas wife,the police have registered a case of rape and murder against the Hadwadias under 4 sections of IPC. According to the complaint,the couple and their 20-year-old daughter till last year used to work at the factory owned by Hadwadia and two years ago,had loaned money from Hadwadia to build a house. Ever since Dhanjas left their job and began farming on their small land,the Hadwadias,according to complaint,had been harassing them. Complaint further said that when Dhanja couldnt return money on time,Ravi began mental and sexual exploitation of their daughter and raped her several times. On Monday morning,Dhanja left his home on pretext of visiting their under construction home and later his body was found from another under construction site,the police said.
