Gujarat benefitted the most from the recent visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the US, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said in Vadodara Saturday. In reference to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed last week between the Gujarat government and US firm Micron for a Rs 22,5000-crore plant in Sanand, Patel said that the agreement had been possible due to Modi’s “vision”.

“If anyone has benefitted from Modi’s US visit, it is Gujarat — we were able to sign the MoU with Micron for the manufacturing of semiconductor chips. It is coming to India and to Gujarat… In the last nine years, PM Modi has shown the country what good governance is. Gujarat signed an MoU with (US firm) Micron, which is a matter of pride for us. Every Prime Minister tried to get this manufacturing company to come to India but no one was successful.

Only Narendrabhai achieved success. It is a benefit of his visionary leadership. He always has a forward-thinking mind. Gujarat has benefitted the most from the politics of development,” he said.

Unlike the “neighbouring countries” that are reeling under “more than 25 per cent inflation”, India has restricted inflation to under 5 per cent due to PM Modi’s vision, Patel said as he addressed a public gathering to mark nine years of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre. The CM was flanked by party Vice-President Gordhan Zadafiya and other elected representatives of Vadodara at the event where the party had set up a stage under the signature Akota-Dandia Bazar solar panel.

Patel added it was due to the “politics of development” introduced by PM Modi that the infrastructure has become a talking point in the country. “In 2014, India had only 641 medical colleges with about 22,000 seats. Today, we have more than 1,300 medical colleges and more than one lakh medical seats… When you have service in your mind, you need good governance so that the last of the standing men can benefit from the services. That is the vision of Modiji… You can imagine that the recent GST revenue is Rs 1.87 lakh crore… How is this possible? It is because all industries are running well. They have power, water, infrastructure and so, they are progressing and paying GST. This is the model of good governance,” Patel said.

Urging party workers to “work hard” for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls with the same fervour as that of the December 2022 Assembly polls, Patel said, “It is Modi’s vision that we must take the benefits of good governance to the poorest person and hence, we must come together and work with the same enthusiasm for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls of 2024 as we did in December 2022 state assembly polls.”
