Chief Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit China by the end of this year on an invitation from the Chinese ambassador to India Zhang Yan,who was in Gandhinagar last month. Zhang had met Modi with the members of India-China Economic and Cultural Council.
Modi had also invited the Chinese envoy to visit Gujarat during the Navratri festival later this month.
Modi has been to China twice before on official visits.
Sources from the government said Modi is keen to develop strong relations with China and vice-versa.
A K Sharma,secretary to the CM,said,The ambassador personally invited him to visit China and the CM is keen. However,details will be decided by the CM
himself.
Modi had briefed Zhang about the ties between Gujarat and China since the Buddhist period. He had told the envoy that there should be more joint ventures in manufacturing activities in Gujarat. He had compared the business acumen of Gujaratis,Chinese and Jews during his talk with the Chinese envoy. He had also suggested starting coaching centres for Chinese cooking and Chinese language in Gujarat.
Sources said now China is keen to invest in manufacturing facilities in Gujarat.
