More than a month after the death of a minor school girl from Rajkot under mysterious circumstances at a highway water park,the Rajkot Crime Branch team dug up the victims body for another postmortem after the family members expressed possibility of a rape and murder. An owner of a catering group has come under suspicion as parents see a ray of hope for justice. In presence of the Mamlatdar,a city Crime Branch team excavated the body of the 14-year-old victim at the Ambedkarnagar crematorium. According to Crime Branch officers,the victims body was found from a refuse basin at Krishna Water Park on the outskirts of Rajkot city on National Highway 8B on August 16. According to the details of the case,the victim,the daughter of a catering worker,Manjula Parmar,had gone to the water park as a member of a catering company for a function on August 15. At the end of the function,she was reported to have gone missing. A search till late night led to no result and the girls body was found the next day from a refuse basin at the water park. The last rites of the victim were performed following her postmortem. A case of accidental death was registered. But following a strong representation by the family members stating that the girl was probably raped and murdered,the administration gave the nod for one more post-mortem. A forensic team was also present at the site today. The reports of the post-mortem are awaited. To press the demand for the post-mortem,a group of Dalits had taken out a rally on August 28 and September 9. Based on a memorandum submitted by the Dalits,Commissioner of Police Geetha Johri had given order to reinvestigate the case. The victim,a class VII student,also worked with catering companies to help parents. She was paid Rs 70 a day by her employer.
