Minor road accident leads to stone pelting

The incident occurred after an autorickshaw brushed against a physically-disabled pedestrian,allegedly drunk,in the high density traffic in the area. The man was walking along with his life. The pedestrian got into a verbal duel with the auto driver,which led to a scuffle and people from the neighbourhood soon gathered at the spot. Soon the mob resorted to stone pelting.

DCP Zone V,Ajay Kumar Chaudhary said: “The place has an equal population of the two communities. We are checking door to door to see if anyone has got injured. The pedestrian and his wife were safely sent home. The Special Reserve Police Force (SRPF) was rushed to the spot. The mob has also damaged the SRPF base”.

ACP M S Bhadra said the situation was under control. “We have deployed extra police force in the area,” he said.
